Is BeatForge free?
Yes. The whole studio is free to use — all 17 instruments, the sampler, the sequencer, the mixer and arrangement tools. BeatForge Pro is an optional upgrade that unlocks lossless and stem export, MIDI, watermark-free sharing and unlimited AI generations. See Pricing.
Does it need an internet connection?
Only the AI composer uses the cloud to draft an arrangement. Everything else — synthesis, sampling, sequencing, mixing and export — runs entirely on your device and keeps working offline.
Can I import or record my own samples?
Yes. Record straight from your phone's mic or import audio from Files and Voice Memos. Map several samples across pitches to build a multi-sample instrument that plays in tune, with velocity layers and per-zone loop and reverse.
What can I export?
A lossless 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV master, per-lane WAV stems for your DAW, MIDI, a share video for social, or the full editable .beatforge project. Lossless, stems and MIDI are part of Pro.
Who owns the music I make?
You do. Tracks you create in BeatForge are yours to release, sell and perform. If you sample material you don't own the rights to, clearing that is your responsibility — see our Terms.
Do I need to know music theory?
No. The piano roll is locked to the genre's scale by default, so any note you place sounds musical. When you want full control, switch to chromatic mode for all twelve notes.
Is there a watermark on free exports?
Free shares carry a small "made with BeatForge" watermark. Pro removes it. Your saved project files are never watermarked.
Can I use it for a DJ set or live performance?
Yes. Set Builder auto-orders your tracks by Camelot key and energy, beatmatches them to one tempo and crossfades into a single mixed set. Perform mode lets you trigger and switch sections live.
Does it work on iPad?
BeatForge runs on iPhone and on iPad in compatibility mode. A native iPad layout is on the roadmap.
How do I cancel Pro?
Manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings. Your work stays yours — cancelling only affects the Pro export and AI features.
